Mens sana in corpore sano to live a better life.
Mens sana in corpore sano is a latin expression that anyone knows as a healthy mind in a healthy body, but do you live like that?
Anyone knows this expression but few of us are doing it. I must confer that I start living like that for the past few months because before I didn’t care, or I didn’t want to jump on my bike to go for a ride of an hour or so or to go in my basement to train. Being a couch potato is much easier and the video games can be really fun but when the routine kicks in you will be surprised to see how well you feel after you decided to move your lazy ass. Don’t get me wrong it can be difficult at first but after a couple of weeks it will be your favorite moment of the day trust me. So how to survive the tortured that you inflict at your body for the first week?
First of all, you want to start really slow so your body can adapt. If you start too fast, and you decide to run a 10 km during your first day I can bet 100$ that you will stop the next day and that you will return to your old habit. It’s not an easy task you need to be ready to stay on your program whatever it is, it can be to run for 10minutes a day, walk 15 minutes a day it doesn’t matter. The importance is that you stick to it for a long period of time. Before you start to sit at a table with a paper and a pen it’s your first step to a better life so don’t skip this. You will want to write your ultimate goal that you want to accomplish. After you will write your goal that you want to accomplish in the short term and medium term these goals is important because they will keep you motivated. You will probably quit if you only have one big goal in your head. This goal will look impossible to accomplish, and you will quit so it’s important to have some short term goal. You can write at what time of the day you will be training so it could become a routine. If you train at the same time day after day it will be much easier to stand up and do what you have to do. When everything is on paper take your sheet and place it where you can see it. Then take a day off to be completely motivated, if you want you can take that day off to create a new play list that you will listen when you train. Music can help you with a boost of energy to start every training with a good mentality.
Today is the starting of a new lifestyle that hopefully will stay all your life. The first thing you want to do is doing a little warm up so your muscle won’t be cold when you start doing your exercises after 10-15 minutes of warm-up stretch your muscle a little. By doing so you will lower the chances of injury, and you will loosen up your muscle. Now you are ready to start!
Remember start slow and increase the intensity when you feel comfortable with it. The goal here is not to win a world record but to be healthy and to live a good life. Having a healthy body will help you enjoying your life a lot more, and you will be able to do activities you taught you will never be able to do anymore.
